The world inside the computer
On this Cluster of Excellence
Intelligent computer systems that learn to communicate like humans do; systems that will see and understand language, mimics, gesture, and react interactively. In the cluster of excellence „Multimodal Computing and Interaction“, this science fiction becomes reality.
The cluster of excellence „ multimodal computing and interaction“ in Saarbrücken is a co-operation of Saarland University with the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems and the German research Center for artificial intelligence (DFKI).
In highly interdisciplnary projects, researchers develop intelligent computer systems that can compete with humans, whose senses are the blueprint. These systems learn to identify and to interpret acustic and visual information, and to react appropriately. There are millions of application scenarios for this technology. From driver assistence systems in cars to intelligent music libraries – the future has just begun.
