On this Cluster of Excellence
The “Universe Cluster” in Munich attempts to answer the most fundamental question of all: How did our universe evolve? What happened after the “Big Bang” and why is there a mysterious imbalance between matter and antimatter – the reason for the existence of our world. The scientists at the Universe Cluster examine the question, whether the laws of nature known to us can be applied to the Universe, and to what extent they need to be expanded. Furthermore, they want to know, how our universe develops in the future and what role the dark energy plays in this.. Astro-, nuclear- and particle-physicists at the research center in Garching near Munich closely work together to provide answers to such key questions of modern physics. They search for insights in the innermost structures of matter, dimension and time – and the commencement of nature.
