Entrepreneurial Future

To think entrepreneurially means to invest, to take new risks, to develop sustainable strategies. With the strategic plan “The Entrepreneurial University” the Technische Universität München is doing just that. In the context of cutting-edge research this means combining a maximum of individual freedom with a science-friendly administration. Precisely in the act of researching is one courageous. The motto is high-risk, but also high reward. Participation in the ESA project “Living Planet” with the “GOCE” satellite requires entrepreneurial planning and effort and the courage to make high-risk investments. The expected returns are completely new findings about Planet Earth. The best science is only possible, however, if the best scientists come to Munich – and increasingly an important deciding factor for a top scientist in coming to Munich is the possibility for the scientist’s partner to continue his or her career. The Munich Dual Career Office supports the scientist’s partner in Munich as he or she tries to establish a professional foothold. Long-term scientific thinking pursues many different directions. Contacts with schools are established, so that teachers and prospective young researchers can be inspired by current science early on. These are only a few of the activities of the TU München, aimed at sharpening its distinctive profile and measuring up to the highest international standards.
