On this Graduate School
Students at the GSN short for Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences, all follow one major topic: how does the brain work? They approach this question from many different research disciplines like, Neurobiology, Psychology but also Electrical Engineering or theoretical Biophysics. Uniquely in the German university landscape, the GSN, as an interdisciplinary institution, which independently awards the internationally accepted degree “PhD“ as opposed to the classical Dr. rer. nat. which can only be awarded by single faculties (i.e.Biology, Chemistry, Physics). Furthermore the GSN offers a fast-track program which enables exceptionally qualified students holding a Bachelor’s degree to pursue the PhD directly, in a 4-year program.
