Smart particles in focus - In the spirit of nature

The utilization of nano-objects and macromolecules for technology, medicine and industry is only at the beginning. However, at the Graduate School ”Leipzig School of Natural Sciences – Building with Molecules and Nano-objects - BuildMoNa“ excellent discoveries are already being made today. Thus, the Graduate School follows the 600-year tradition of the Universität Leipzig. The research areas of the young researchers are diverse; however, the smallest components of nature are always the focus of interest: molecules, cells and nano-objects. The possibilities within this area of research are enormous. Exact measurements of biomechanics of a cell could simplify cancer diagnosis in the future. New coatings on titanium implants minimize the risk of infection as well as other side effects in the treatment of complicated fractures. Currently, about 100 doctoral candidates are working on topical, interdisciplinary projects at the Graduate School „BuildMoNa“. There is much to be discovered.
