The doctoral students of Hannover Biomedical Research School (HBRS) come from South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. What does draw these young scientists to graduate in Hannnover? The complex interactions between hosts and pathogens is only one focus of the Graduate School, within the main subjects of infection and immunology, biochemistry, oncology as well as transplantation and tissue regeneration. For a graduation in one of the three PhD programs: Molecular Medicine, Infection Biology and Regenerative Sciences, the top 60 of more than 800 applicants are accepted every year. One of them is Subhashree Mahapatra. The 23-year-old studied biotechnology in New Delhi. Now she works at the Research School, reasons being the newest available technology and equipment, but also the integral social and cultural training and supervision as a part of the Graduation School’s program.
