On this Institutional Strategy
RWTH Aachen University addresses pressing global issues like energy, mobility, health and demographic change by defining integrated research strategies. Engineering and the natural sciences – the renowned core areas – are being further strengthened to make the most of their innovative potential, but not without involving the humanities and the social sciences in this process. The mission is to create an integrated interdisciplinary university of technology. RWTH Aachen University aims to master this far-reaching reorientation process – based upon the keywords “quality”, “new ideas”, “cooperation” and “mobilising people” – with coordinated and constructive measures:
### A Sharper Profile
Strengthening basic research in the natural sciences and intensifying scientific cooperation between all faculties and fields of engineering and the natural sciences.
### Interdisciplinary Research
Strengthening interdisciplinary research by systematically promoting new ideas and interdisciplinary projects in their initial phase.
### Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA)
Jülich Aachen Research Alliance (JARA) as a novel organisational and strategic basis for the RWTH’s cooperation with the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH.
### Mobilising People
Specifically targeted measures to promote and support people at all career levels by introducing a coherent human resources and organisation development concept which makes it possible to recruit and retain the best minds.
